Wednesday was the last day of VPK before winter break. We enjoyed the day by celebrating Christmas with our friends and families. We exchanged books, opened presents from our teachers, listened to Jingle Bells played on guitar by one of our parents, and played Christmas games. The big surprise for everyone was, thanks to Santa's favorite elf Noodles; and our own Tiny Tommy's great reports, a visit by the big man himself. He told everyone how proud he was of them this year, and gave all the kids an early surprise from his bag. Of course, everyone had lots of questions for Santa, but the big one was where were his reindeer? Santa explained that he only uses the reindeer on Christmas eve, and that he had driven his van. Luckily, after he left, we were able to confirm this as several of our kids saw his van flying high above the center on the way back to the north pole! Everyone at Playcare wishes all our families a very merry Christmas; we can't wait to hear all about it when you return!
December is a busy month for everyone, including our kids. We spend a lot of time learning about the winter season, and the holidays it brings. We read books about the leaves changing colors, the cold weather, winter traditions and characters, Hanukkah, and Christmas. We make winter themed arts and crafts, and Christmas gifts for our parents. We play winter and holiday themed games. We also have to deal with the mess and crazy antics of Tiny Tommy, our elf of the shelf. Needless to say, we all LOVE December!
We had a great time last night, for our parent shopping/date night, and from the reactions we got from our kid's parents, so did they! We had a family style spaghetti dinner, made chocolate chip cookies, watched a movie; complete with popcorn, played games, listened and sang along to a Christmas flute performance, and enjoyed doing a little art work. We love you all, hope you have a wonderful Christmas full of friends and family, and are thankful that you have chosen to be a part of the Playcare family!
