Circle Time! During circle time we all sit together and participate in learning activities as a group. Every morning we discuss the month, day, year, time, and weather. We read stories, sing songs, recite rhymes and the alphabet, count, and much more! Circle time provides a time to learn listening skills, develop attention span, promote oral communication, and teach new concepts. It also includes sensory experience, socialization, memorization, and fun. In other words, its one of the most important parts of our day!
Art Time! Art is another important part of our day, everyday! So many schools are concentrating so much on core subjects that art time has become a luxury instead of a staple of their curriculum. However, we believe the developmental benefits of art are more important than ever. Through art, our children learn motor skills, increase their vocabulary, improve their decision making, acquire visual learning abilities, and develop a sense of innovation, all of which work together to improve their academic performance now and in the future.
Center Time! Center time includes activities located in specific areas around our classroom that allow children to work in small groups, and makes up a majority of our day. Our children learn so much during center time, such as social interaction, self regulation of behavior, language development, time management, academics, trying new things, etc. It also allows them time to practice other lessons they have learned during class periods. However, the best part is that they think they are just playing! Our centers include: block, language, manipulative, sensory, dramatic play, science and math, and art centers.
