Firefighters are a community helper we see in our neighborhood everyday. They help the community, not only by fighting fires, but by cleaning up after accidents to keep other drivers safe, rescuing people trapped in vehicles or buildings, helping families make sure their homes are safe, visiting schools to teach children, and so much more. Firefighters put their lives at risk to help us, which makes them more than just community helpers, it makes them heroes! Today we had the privilege of visiting the Inverness Fire Department for a tour and to learn first hand how the Fire Department and it's Firefighters help our community. We got to sit in the driver's seat of the fire truck and explore all of its different compartments and tools, we toured the entire fire station; we even got to visit the Chief in his office, we hung out in the living quarters where on duty fire fighters spend their days, and got to see a firefighter in full gear! We all want to say a big thanks to the firefighters for taking the time to give us such an amazing tour, and for being community helpers in our neighborhood.
